Reflexology is a natural therapy. At Guelph Reflexology, we apply gentle pressure to specific points on your feet or hands. These points (called reflexes) correspond to different organs and systems in your body. Stimulating them helps your body relax and heal. Most people use reflexology alongside their regular healthcare.
-
They're related, but reflexology is more targeted. At Guelph Reflexology, we work with a detailed map of reflex points on your feet. These points connect to your whole body. When we press a specific spot on your foot's arch, we're sending a signal to your liver. A reflexology session feels relaxing like a massage, but the goal is different: we're supporting your overall health.

People come to Guelph Reflexology for all sorts of reasons. Our clients most often report less stress, relief from pain, and better sleep. Improved digestion comes up a lot, too. A meta-analysis in Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine found measurable reductions in stress following reflexology. Reflexology also supports your immune system and circulation.
-
Yes, and it's one of the top reasons people book with Guelph Reflexology. Reflexology activates your parasympathetic nervous system, which is your body's "rest and digest" mode. That helps lower your heart rate, ease tension, and quiet your mind. A 2020 meta-analysis found significant reductions in anxiety following foot reflexology. Many of our clients tell us they sleep better for days afterward.
-
Many clients come to Guelph Reflexology looking for pain support. A large review of 168 reflexology studies found positive pain reduction outcomes. Headaches, arthritis, and neuropathy were all included.
In our practice, we've seen clients with chronic headaches and lower back pain find real relief. Reflexology doesn't replace medical treatment, but it works well alongside it.

Every person is different. Some clients feel a shift after their very first session. They notice deeper sleep, or less tension, or just a lighter mood. Others notice gradual improvement over a few weeks. For ongoing concerns like chronic pain or anxiety, we suggest starting weekly and adjusting from there. Jen Wrixon, RRPr, will work out the right pace with you during your free consultation.

Item descriptionYes. Many people with foot-related conditions find reflexology helpful. At Guelph Reflexology, gentle pressure and stimulation can improve circulation and ease discomfort. We always tailor the pressure to your comfort level. If you have a diagnosed condition, let your healthcare provider know you're considering reflexology.

It is. A 2023 systematic review confirmed reflexology is both effective and safe during pregnancy. Benefits included reduced anxiety, pain relief, and improved labour outcomes. Guelph Reflexology offers mama and baby reflexology designed for expectant mothers. It can help with pregnancy discomforts like nausea, back pain, and trouble sleeping. Some practitioners prefer to wait until after the first trimester as a precaution. We can talk about what feels right for you.
-
The postpartum period is beautiful and exhausting. Reflexology helps new moms ease stress, recover energy, and find some calm. Guelph Reflexology's mama and baby reflexology sessions welcome you and your little one. No childcare needed.
-
Yes. At Guelph Reflexology, we use very gentle techniques for little ones. Reflexology can help with colic, teething discomfort, sleep disturbances, and digestive upset. Parents often tell us their children are calmer and sleep better after a session.

Reflexology works for almost everyone, at every age. We see teens dealing with school stress and seniors managing arthritis or circulation. We also work with clients living with chronic conditions like fibromyalgia. At Guelph Reflexology, we adjust every session to your needs. Just let us know what you're dealing with and we'll tailor your treatment.
-
You can! That's why Guelph Reflexology offers hand reflexology. You get the same benefits (stress relief, relaxation, better balance) without taking your shoes off. Hand reflexology also works well if you have diabetes, foot sores, or varicose veins. It's good for anyone recovering from foot surgery, too.
-
Your first visit at Guelph Reflexology is 75 minutes. We'll spend some time getting to know each other. We'll ask about your health, your goals, and what's going on in your life. Then you'll relax on a comfortable massage table while we work on your feet. (Or hands, if you prefer.) We apply gentle pressure to specific reflex points, one foot at a time. The other foot stays warm in a towel. Most people get deeply relaxed. Some fall asleep, which we take as a compliment.
-
Yes, you stay fully clothed at Guelph Reflexology. Wear something comfortable and be prepared to take off your shoes and socks. No other preparation needed. If you prefer hand reflexology, you can keep your shoes on entirely.
-
Reflexology at Guelph Reflexology should never be painful. The pressure is firm but gentle. You might feel tenderness in certain reflex points, which tells us something needs attention there. If anything feels uncomfortable, just let us know and we'll adjust. Most people describe it as deeply relaxing.
